ChatGPT 플러그인을 하나씩 사용해 보면서, 그 기능과 잠재성을 뒤늦게 깨달을 때가 있습니다. 그 중에 하나가 paraphraser 라는 플러그인입니다. paraphrasing은 ‘알기쉽게 바꾸어 말하기’ 정도로 번역할 수 있습니다. 언어학습에서 같은 내용을 비슷하지만 다른 방법으로 표현하는 방법을 익히는 것은 매우 중요합니다.
paraphrasing 은 글에 대한 깊은 이해가 전제되기 때문에 새로운 방법으로 표현하기 위해서 먼저 원문 텍스트를 이해하는 과정을 통해 강화학습이 일어납니다.
또한 paraphrasing 할 때 동의어나 반의어, 대안이 될 수 있는 다른 표현을 찾아봄으로써 어휘력이 확장이 되며 같은 생각을 다르게 표현하는 것에 익숙해짐으로써 표현력을 기를 수 있습니다.
뿐만 아니라 상황에 따라 대화 상대에 따라 적절한 표현을 골라서 표현할 수 있는 화용적 기술도 기를 수 있습니다.
이 정도만 언급해도 언어학습에서 paraphrasing이 중요한 이유를 충분히 전달할 것 같습니다.
실제로 이 플러그인을 사용해서 2023년 6월 고1 모의고사 문항을 변형지문으로 바꾸어 보았습니다.
프롬프트는 간단합니다.프롬프트를 어떻게 넣느냐에 따라 글의 난이도를 조정할 수 있습니다. 예를 들어 ‘paraphrase for an elementary schooler’라고 프롬프트를 넣으면 그에 따라 난이도가 조정되는 것을 확인하였습니다.
